Redbridge Council shortlisted for prestigious national award
Thursday 24 March 2022
We are extremely proud and delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for the 2022 Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Awards.
The annual awards celebrate excellence in local government and recognise the most exceptional talent, dedication and innovation across the local government workforce. Redbridge Council’s entry, ‘Robot Protects Residents’ has been shortlisted in the Technology category.
At Redbridge we aim to improve poor-quality homes and our teams monitor and asses all types of properties through the landlord licencing standards. Its these standards that help us ensure our residents are living safely in Redbridge.
We had seen the demand for landlord license applications increase, which was worsened with the difficulties of Covid 19. The landlord licencing applications process estimated in excess of six months to complete, which made it difficult to take forward our ambition for safer homes and presented a huge pressure for the team.
By turning to automation, we have protected and supported the accommodation standards for our tenants in Redbridge as well as allowed our team to focus on what residents and landlords want.
We have demonstrated that digital is about people, that technology helps us to make communities stronger, our residents are safer and our staff feel empowered.
This year's LGC Awards saw a record number of entries across all categories, so to be shortlisted is an outstanding achievement. The LGC Awards 2022 will be held at Grosvenor House in London on Wednesday 20 July.
